We started Mainstreet boxers after we fostered a small fawn boxer named Maliki in 2001. Though we loved him with all of our hearts we soon lost him due to health problems because of a breeder not caring about the breed and only the money he could make. Soon after we got Maliki we were in and out of our vets office more times then we could count. Not only did he have allergies, but he was in the first stages of hip dysplasia and had a heart problems. But Even with all of these problems he still came with full AKC registration where he could pass a death sentence to any puppy he produced. We soon learned from our vet that this was the types of breeders that came from local breeders here in Madison and that many of the boxer don't make it to their 7th birthday. We soon relized that even though Maliki had all of these problems he had the heart and temperment of a true boxer and so our addiction and love of the breed came to light.
We soon started reading up on the breed and what we needed to look for in a quality breeder. And purchased our fist puppy. So when we started MainStreet Boxers we looked at what we wanted from a breeder and gave our customers the same. We are hobby breeders and each of our boxers are very much loved members of our family so we only have one to two litters of puppies a year. Though our boxers are not show dogs with tons of champions in their pedigree's they are true to the breed in their conformation, tempermant, and health.
